Act of Kindness

Your always hearing people talk about "acts of kindness" or "being kind. For some this could be hard because they're not built that way and it feels like work. However, for some it's just who they are at their core. I recently ran into a woman I knew just in passing. We have since became friends. She asked, "What are your son's name"? I said Logan, Cole, and Cash. As I was saying Cash's name tears ran down her face. She explained to me that she has been struggling personally. However, with a new job she recently acquired she gets to meet with Cash once a day. She told me "You have no idea what your son has done for me, he brings me joy ever day". I'd be lying if I said this was the first time someone has told me this. But it never gets old. To know someone who was struggling through a very difficult season found joy if just for a minute through my son, is such a gift. We all have gifts and bring something special to the table. I would say Cash's gift is putting a smile on at least one person's face everywhere we go.

However, acts of kindness aren't always returned. Cash and I were out and about on Saturday. He was my errand buddy. We had groceries to get and some toy browsing to do at target. We had to start at Chik Filia. You can't shop hungry people.  While we sat and ate our lunch customers were walking by our table regularly. It was busy. Cash said hi with a wave and smile to each and everyone. One out of nine people responded to him. You know I counted. Here's the thing I'm not hurt because they didn't respond to my child. It was more like a moment of disappointment in the general public that were too busy or just don't care enough to give a wave or smile, especially to a kid.

I'll say this though from a kiddo who three years ago wasn't really speaking to being the most outgoing kid in the joint, I'll take that any day. I sat there as tears of joy filled my eyes. I was so proud of the fact that no matter how many times people would walk by with no response to him, it didn't stop him. He kept on. That is my daily prayer for our Cashy boy, keep trying and never stop spreading that joy that comes so easy to you. We can all take a note from Cash... The picture I chose for this blog is a t-shirt we found over the summer. "Be kind, to all kinds", good reminder, right?
